- Recovered census documents indicate that the registration for the "Poll Tax" was initiated in the time of Caesar Augustus, and was carried out each 14 years until at least the Third Century A.D. Thus no young person could escape registration beyond 13 years of age.
- The "Talking Crocodiles" - crocodiles embalmed and filled with papyrus in Egypt- indicate that the Gospels were written in "koine" (common, shared) Greek of everyday people - not slang but the Greek of the market place in N.T. times.
- Examples are "scrip" (Luke 22:36), or "a beggar's bag"; the leper who was a "stranger" (Luke 17:18) or "resident alien"; and the woman who would "weary" the judge (Luke 18:4,5) - hitting him under the eye!
- Truly, "the common people heard Him gladly" (Mark 12:37)
